Union Pacific Corporation is a publicly traded company with ties to the railroad industry. The company operates through its subsidiaries, including Union Pacific Railroad Company and Union Pacific Pipeline Group. As of 2020, Union Pacific Corporation had a market capitalization of over $100 billion.

The company has been recognized as a leader in sustainable and responsible business practices. In 2019, Union Pacific was named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index North America for the seventh consecutive year. The company has also been recognized by the Carbon Disclosure Project, Climate Counts, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Union Pacific has a long history of supporting environmental initiatives. In the early 1990s, the company launched an initiative to clean up diesel locomotives. This program has since been credited with reducing emissions from Union Pacific locomotives by more than 90%. The company has also taken steps to reduce its water usage. In 2015, Union Pacific announced a goal to reduce its water consumption by 20% by 2020. As of 2019, the company had achieved a 12% reduction in water usage.

Union Pacific has also invested in renewable energy. In 2016, the company announced a goal to source 10% of its energy from renewables by 2025. As of 2019, Union Pacific had achieved a 5% renewable energy sourcing goal. In addition to its environmental initiatives, Union Pacific has also been a leader in social responsibility. The company has been named to the Fortune 500 list of companies that are leading the way in social and environmental change. Union Pacific has also been recognized by the Ethisphere Institute as a World’s Most Ethical Company.

Union Pacific Corporation, through its subsidiary, Union Pacific Railroad Company, engages in the railroad business in the United States. The company offers transportation services for grain and grain products, fertilizers, food and refrigerated products, and coal and renewables to grain processors, animal feeders, ethanol producers, and other agricultural users; coal and sand, petroleum, and liquid petroleum gases; and construction products, industrial chemicals, plastics, forest products, specialized products, metals and ores, and soda ash, as well as finished automobiles, automotive parts, and merchandise in intermodal containers. As of December 31, 2020, its rail network included 32,313 route miles connecting Pacific Coast and Gulf Coast ports with the Midwest and Eastern United States gateways. The company was founded in 1862 and is headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska.
